Yarns produced from spinning mills & Significance of wool and its varieties



There is a long list of yarns that are produced by spinning mills. Most of them are produced from cotton fibres. The common varieties are fly yarn, cabled yarn, novelty yarn, doubled yarn, cotton yarn chenille yarn, and spot or know yarn, curl or loop yarn, flake yarn, spiral yarn, slub yarn, ratine yarn and many others. Most of them are used in the manufacturing process of woven fabric or knit. Yarns made from cotton are categorized into combed, rotor yarn and carded. All the varieties of yarns are used for synthetic and natural fibres. It is available in different varieties in the market ranging from good and not so good.


While you are choosing a yarn to be utilized in your knitting project, you should consider the type of wool. The reason being wool is a queen of yarns and it is preferred by different types of knitters. A common source of wool is from lambs which come after shearing the lamb for the first time. Merino wool is a considered to be one of the fine breeds. Wool that is directly made from an animal fleece is called pure wool. This wool is different from other varieties because it cannot be recycled from other woolen garments. 

Shetland wool is made from a native sheep that is hard and native. Such sheep are available from the Shetland of Scotland. Washable wool is quite prevalent among Indian yarn suppliers and can be treated chemically. It can be used to electronically destroy the fuzzy fiber layers. You should also check for the amount of synthetic material in the fiber like polyester, nylon and acrylic. It is easy to recognize novelty yarns because it differs from the traditional yarns. Another special variety of yarn is a specialty.
